The String of Tears (Senecio herreianus), also known as Curio herreianus, is a charming succulent known for its trailing stems adorned with small, teardrop-shaped leaves. Native to South Africa, this plant is often grown in hanging baskets, where its cascading vines create a stunning visual effect. The green leaves feature translucent lines that help in photosynthesis and resemble tiny water droplets, giving the plant its poetic name. It prefers bright, indirect sunlight and well-draining soil, making it ideal for indoor environments. Like many succulents, it requires minimal watering—typically once the soil is completely dry. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so good drainage is crucial. During its blooming season, the String of Tears may produce small, white, cinnamon-scented flowers.
